Whether you hire a licensed landscaper for leaf removal or do it yourself, please remember, it's the law:
DO NOT PLACE LEAVES IN THE STREET
The Town of Clarkstown will be actively enforcing the law and will issue violation to those who place leaf piles in the street.
LEAVES ON OUR STREETS ARE DANGEROUS!
- Streets can become impassable.
- Leaf piles in the road can be dangerous for children playing in them.
- Leaves clog storm drains, leading to flooding.
Please be a part of the solution.
- Mulch leaves
- Place leaves on the edge of your property, not the road, for pick up by the Highway Department
- Use biodegradable leaf bags. Leaf bags can be picked up at no charge at Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Avenue, New City and the Clarkstown Highway Department, 12 Seeger Drive, Nanuet.
New Landscaping License Law
Clarkstown has enacted a Landscaper's Licensing Law. The purpose of the law is to ensure that landscapers remain committed to keeping our street safe by keeping them clear of leaves, twigs, and other types of yard waste. This law requires all landscaping businesses to register with the Town.
