Chief Raymond McCullagh and the men and women of the Clarkstown Police Department welcome you.

The Clarkstown Police Department has 156 sworn police officers and 70 civilians and crossing guards. CPD continues its mission to keep you, your family and our community safe, so that residents and visitors feel safe. Our vision of being the safest town in America is built around a strong commitment to community policing. Chief McCullagh’s emphasis is continued efforts to reduce crime, increase attention to traffic safety and quality of life initiatives, and improve efficiency and effectiveness through professional development. The hallmark of the Chief’s policing policy is “Community First”.

Chief Raymond McCullagh started his police career with the NYPD in 1986, then in 1989 he was hired by the Clarkstown Police Department. Since joining the department he has been assigned as a patrol officer, investigator, patrol sergeant, special operations sergeant, patrol lieutenant and administrative lieutenant and commander of the Critical Incident Response Team.

Chief McCullagh earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from LaSalle University in 1986. Chief McCullagh is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Police Academy Session 241 and an active member of the Rockland County Chiefs Association. He has received numerous awards and citations throughout his career.

Chief Raymond McCullagh is a long time resident of Clarkstown and is married with five children.

The mission of the Clarkstown Police Department is to work in partnership with the Clarkstown community in order to provide the most professional and ethical police service, protect life and property, without passion or prejudice, bring to justice those who violate the law, reduce fear of crime, and promote the quality of life so that the Town of Clarkstown continues to be one of the safest and most desirable places in the Country to live, raise a family and conduct business.
