Construction on South Main Street
As you may know, work on the New City Revitalization Project is continuing.
The utility companies have been working throughout the late winter and early spring, and will continue to do so over the next few months until all the utility lines are moved and the old poles are taken out.
The contractor, Morano Brothers, is currently beginning work on the section south of the entrance to downtown New City from Route 304 and some of the other gateway features in this area.
This work includes a gateway fountain coming into New City from Route 304 on the south end of the Premier Orthopedic building. Also, the former Adopt-a-Spot in the grassy area on the south side will now be a brand new shared venture between sponsors Steve Botto Landscaping and Majestic Lawn Care & Landscaping. It is being designed by Landscape Architects from our consultant firm, Behan Associates. Both of these attractive gateway features will be an aesthetic enhancement to the entrance to the New City Business District.
The work will progress uninterrupted from south to north as the utility poles are being removed. Once these are removed, the contractor will continue work on the main section of South Main Street.
The goal is to complete the work safely, with high quality, and as few disruptions to the businesses as possible.
