Town of Clarkstown Co-Sponsors Swim Across America Event

Sunday, July 8th, 7AM-9:30 AM, Germonds Pool, West Nyack

(New City, NY) - Clarkstown Supervisor Alex Gromack announces the Town of Clarkstown will co-sponsor a Swim Across America event at Germonds Pool, Germonds Road, West Nyack on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 7-9:30 AM.  The second annual 1/2 mile or 1 mile pool swim will benefit United Hospice of Rockland, Tommy Palazzo Fellowship for Columbia University, Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at New York Presbyterian, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s SAA and DeMatteo Research Laboratories.  Swimmers of all ages are welcome. 

Swimmers may swim 1 mile, 1/2 mile, or form relay teams.  Teams of friends and family may participate as a group.  Each swimmer receives a T-shirt and a towel.  Shower and changing facilities are provided at Germonds Pool and light refreshments will be available.  For more information please visit the following website www.swimacrossamerica.org/long_island and then click on Clarkstown Germonds Pool Swim.

Swim Across America, Inc., (SAA) is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming- related events. With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide and past and current Olympians, SAA is helping find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service.  Swim Across America began as a grassroots organization with events developing organically.  Now, those events raise hundreds of thousands of dollars - and money raised is still given to local beneficiaries.
