Town Updates Residents After Snow Storm
(New City,
NY) – Supervisor Alex Gromack
announces the Town of Clarkstown
has two warming centers open for residents to go to keep warm and charge
electronics. The warming centers will be
open until 10pm at the following locations.

An emergency shelter will be open at Rockland Community
College Field House, 145 College
Road, Suffern, at 6pm tonight. Bedding and light snacks will be available,
all other personal items and medications should be brought with residents using
the facility.
Orange and Rockland Utilities
will be distributing Dry Ice tonight from 7pm to 9pm at the Rockland Boulders
Stadium/Provident Bank Park in Pomona.
The Town is cautioning parents and guardians to watch
children closely if they choose to go trick-or-treating to ensure their
safety. There are portions of local roads closed at this time due to
downed lines and trees on the road. Children need to be told not to touch
downed lines, stay far away from them and always assume they are energized and
extremely dangerous.

At this time, unfortunately, there are still many residents
without power. Supervisor Alex Gromack
has been in contact with representatives from Orange
and Rockland and
they are reporting that their goal is to have 90% of customers restored by
Thursday. At the height of the storm
there were approximately 15,000 Clarkstown customers without power and
according to O&R’s website there are currently,
approximately 7,000 customers without power.
