The Town of Clarkstown will be
conducting a special bulk pick up collection town wide starting Tuesday,
September 6th until Friday, September 16th. There is no limit on quantity;
however, as always, only items on the acceptable household bulk list will be
picked up. Please click here for more details about acceptable
waste.
All household hazardous waste can
be brought to the Rockland County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program
in Pomona. For more information on household hazardous waste please
call 364-2444.
Yard waste or debris is continuing
to be picked up by our Highway Department.
It is very important to keep your
bulk pick up and yard waste pick separate at your curb! They will NOT be
picked up if mixed together!

to clear our streets and streams. The following roads are still
closed:

At this time, unfortunately, there
are still many residents without power. Supervisor Gromack
has been in constant contact with representatives from Orange and Rockland
trying to get information on when power will be restored. For
more information please call 1-877-434-4100 or
visit www.oru.com/customerservice/index.html.
The Town opened two
reception centers on Saturday for residents in need of shelter.
Those reception centers are still open for residents without power to go and
also charge their phones and other electronic devices Monday to Friday 8am to
10pm. Please see community center staff for charging
stations.

Many residents have asked if they
are eligible for federal assistance for damage from Hurricane
Irene. We have been in contact with the County of Rockland
concerning eligibility for FEMA aid. At this time, the County is
waiting for word from federal and state governments. In the meantime,
the County of Rockland suggests residents document any expenses incurred and
take photos of any damage. We hope to know more in the near
future.
The Town of Clarkstown is still in
a State of Emergency due to the affects of Hurricane Irene. Prior to
the storm we began implementing our emergency response plan and the
coordination of all appropriate agencies. The Town's Emergency
Operation Center was up and running all weekend and Town officials and staff
are continuing to work to address our residents' needs.
