Press Release: Supervisor Issues Local Emergency Order Restricting Vehicular Traffic; Businesses to Be Closed Until 6PM Sunday

SUPERVISOR ISSUES LOCAL EMERGENCY ORDER RESTRICTING
VEHICULAR TRAFFIC; BUSINESSES TO BE CLOSED UNTIL 6 P.M. SUNDAY
(New City, NY) - Supervisor Alexander Gromack, issued
Local Emergency Order 2-2011 at approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday.The Order provides that vehicular
traffic on Town of Clarkstown Roads shall be restricted to essential emergency
vehicles and personnel and all local businesses shall be closed from 11:59 p.m.
on August 27, 2011 until 6:00 p.m. on August 28, 2011, unless the Order is
rescinded prior to that time.
The Order is intended to protect the lives and property of
residents and to allow emergency personnel to efficiently respond to
emergencies.
Earlier in the evening, the Supervisor issued Local
Emergency Order 1-2011, which called for the mandatory evacuation of certain
streets south of the Lake DeForest Reservoir.
The Town issued a State of Emergency commencing at 12:00
noon today.The State of Emergency will
remain in effect until 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 1, 2011, unless rescinded
prior to that time.A copy of the Local
Emergency Order is attached.
The Town will be
holding a press conference at 9:30pm at the Clarkstown Police Department, 20
Maple Avenue, New City.
