Town of Clarkstown Launches Stay Fit Senior Program
(New City, NY)
Supervisor Alexander J. Gromack and the Town Board
will announce a new exercise program called, Stay Fit Seniors, for Clarkstown seniors citizens on Wednesday, October 20th.A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at
10am at StreetCommunity Center, in the Stay Fit Senior
room, 31 Zukor
Road, New City.
The Stay Fit Senior program is a
state of the art physical activity wellness program for seniors
that fully integrates strength, cardio, and cognitive exercises in a
simple and fun 30 minute session.The
program is free of cost to Clarkstown seniors; however, pre-registration is
required through our Recreation Department.
We all know that regular
physical activity is so important for our health, particularly for seniors citizens, said Supervisor Gromack.The Town offers many recreational programs
to our seniors and this is just one more way for them to remain active in a
social atmosphere.
The Stay Fit Senior circuit
equipment is available to seniors three days a week at the StreetCommunity Center.After a brief orientation session with our
Recreation Department, seniors are free to use the equipment as often as they
like.The Town has registered 500
seniors for the program so far.
I am so pleased with the amount
of seniors that have already registered for our Stay Fit Senior program, said
Supervisor Gromack. We hope Clarkstown seniors use this program
as a positive lifestyle change.
