Town of Clarkstown Launches Stay Fit Senior Program

(New City, NY) – Supervisor Alexander J. Gromack and the Town Board will announce a new exercise program called, Stay Fit Seniors, for Clarkstown seniors citizens on Wednesday, October 20th.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10am at Street Community Center, in the Stay Fit Senior room, 31 Zukor Road, New City.

The Stay Fit Senior program is a state of the art physical activity wellness program for seniors that fully integrates strength, cardio, and cognitive exercises in a simple and fun 30 minute session.  The program is free of cost to Clarkstown seniors; however, pre-registration is required through our Recreation Department.

“We all know that regular physical activity is so important for our health, particularly for seniors citizens,” said Supervisor Gromack.  “The Town offers many recreational programs to our seniors and this is just one more way for them to remain active in a social atmosphere.”

The Stay Fit Senior circuit equipment is available to seniors three days a week at the Street Community Center.  After a brief orientation session with our Recreation Department, seniors are free to use the equipment as often as they like.  The Town has registered 500 seniors for the program so far.

“I am so pleased with the amount of seniors that have already registered for our Stay Fit Senior program,” said Supervisor Gromack.  “We hope Clarkstown seniors use this program as a positive lifestyle change.”
