Clarkstown Receives $10 Million Dollars
for Sewer Upgrades
(New City) – Supervisor Alex
Gromack is pleased to announce the Town of Clarkstown has reached an agreement
with the Rockland County Sewer District who will pay the Town $10 million to
refurbish eight existing pump stations located in Clarkstown and replace
approximately 2500 feet of sewer main lines.
“This is great news for
Clarkstown because without this agreement the Town would have to pay for the
needed upgrades at our sewer pump stations and sewer main lines,” said
Supervisor Gromack.“This project will ensure
that our sewer system is functioning at the highest level possible.”
The agreement allows the Town to
oversee all the design, engineering, and construction of the sewer pump
stations in Clarkstown and then be fully reimbursed by the Sewer District.Sewer pump stations typically consist of
three pumps that collect sewage and pump it from the station where it can
continue with gravity flow to a trunk line. All sewage is discharged directly to the Rockland County Sewer District
trunk lines.
“In Clarkstown, we are always
looking for ways to help lessen the burden on our taxpayers,” said Supervisor
Gromack.“We are grateful to the Sewer
District for their cooperation in this agreement and funding assistance.”
