Supervisor
Gromack Leads Clarkstown Technology Efforts
Residents’ Access Town
Information Through Various Online Initiatives
(New City, NY)
– Clarkstown Supervisor Alex Gromack is continuing to expand his outreach to
Town residents by disseminating a monthly e-newsletter and creating pages on Facebook and Twitter.
“As
Supervisor, I try to make government accessible to everyone. I am always meeting with residents,
organizations, civic associations and businesses to address any issues,
concerns or ideas they may have,” said Supervisor Gromack. “This allows me to further provide valuable
information to residents about the various initiatives undertaken by their government
for them.”
Each month the Town of Clarkstown sends out an electronic
newsletter with updates on town events, programs, new policies and laws,
helpful tips and links, photos and much more. The most recent newsletter included
information on deer control, budget cuts, and the Town’s greening efforts, all
issues raised to the Supervisor by his constituents.
“This
is just one example of how my administration is responsive to our residents,”
said Supervisor Gromack.
To
receive the e-newsletter, residents can visit the Town’s website www.town.clarkstown.ny.us and
click “Supervisor” then click “E-News” or send an email with their first and
last name to e_news@town.clarkstown.ny.us.
Residents can
also become a fan of the Supervisor on Facebook. Facebook is a free-access social networking site, in which users can
join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and
interact with other people. There
residents will find upcoming public events the Supervisor will attend, links to
various sites and a picture montage of the Supervisor’s activities both past
and present. Residents can find
Supervisor Gromack on Facebook by searching his name
Alexander J. Gromack.
Others may want
to “follow” the Supervisor on Twitter. Twitter is a free social networking and
micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read each others'
updates, known as tweets. Tweets
are text-based posts of up to 140 characters, displayed on the author's profile
page and delivered to other users - known as followers - who have subscribed to
them. Again, residents can find
Supervisor Gromack on Twitter by searching his name Alexander J. Gromack. The Supervisor tweets about upcoming events
and issues of interest to residents.
“Technology
has allowed our community to explore topics and places with such ease,” said
Supervisor Gromack. “I am excited about
bringing these capabilities to the Town, not just for residents, but for anyone
who wants to know about our government and the vibrant community we live
in.”
