Pride of Clarkstown Awards Ceremony, February 10, 2009

 

 

Clarkstown will award the 2008 Pride of Clarkstown Awards on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Town Board Meeting scheduled for 8 p.m.  This is the third annual Pride of Clarkstown award ceremony, which was conceived by former Councilman Ralph Mandia who formed the first committee of volunteers in 2005. 

 

“The program is designed to recognize outstanding commercial properties, nominated by individuals and civic organizations, thanking them with an attractive award to display at their place of business,” Mandia said. 

 

The program separates nominations by various categories such as professional office, food and hospitality and even small businesses. “The committee visited every nominated site and met many times to choose winners in each category,” Mandia added.  “My deepest thanks goes to the committee members.”

 

“Of course, we hope this program will be an incentive for other property owners, creating even more attractive commercial locations,” said Mandia.

 

Mandia feels this effort complements the work done by Keep Rockland Beautiful, The Great American Cleanup and the beautification projects sponsored by the Downtown New City Corporation.  “The work done by these groups really inspired me to form the committee,” Mandia concluded.
