Clarkstown
Opens Warming Centers
In conjunction with
the Clarkstown Police Department’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Supervisor
Alex Gromack has announced that the Town of Clarkstown has opened warming centers
for residents to go to keep warm in the extremely cold weather. The following warming centers will be open beginning
today Wednesday January 14, and ending Saturday night January 17, 2009.

Palisades Center Community Room, 4th
floor at the Palisades Center Mall:

operation: 10 am to 10 pm, Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday

Central Nyack Community Center, 58 Waldron
Avenue, Central Nyack:

The following are some cold weather safety tips from
the Rockland County Office of Fire and Emergency Services:

Minimize outdoor activities, particularly the
elderly and very young.
·
Don’t forget to take care of your pets.
·
Check on your neighbors, especially those who
are elderly or physically handicapped.
·
Dress appropriately by wearing loose,
lightweight, warm clothing in several layers.
Always wear a hat on your head, and mittens. Keep your mouth covered with a scarf.
·
Stock up on emergency supplies in your house and
car.
·
Pay attention to the news for official,
up-to-date information on weather conditions.
