Support Our Troops Benefit at Germonds Park

What: The Town of Clarkstown, the West Nyack Fire Department and the West Nyack Post Office are sponsoring a musical benefit in support and appreciation for the dedication and bravery of our troops serving overseas. The Rockland County Concert Band, DD Royal, David Santiago and Latin Affair and Second Helping will be performing. The Postal Service will also be offering a special Adopt a Platoon pictorial postmark to commemorate the event.

Background: Those planning on attending are encouraged to donate the following items for the troops: Sun Block, Eye Drops, Candy, Foot Powder, Aspirin, Motrin, Tylenol, Advil, Canned Chicken fruits or vegetables, Body Powder, Stick Deodorant, Mouthwash, Drink mIxes, Cookies, Coffee, Tea, Bags of Tuna, Throat Lozenges, Chapstick, HandHeld Games, Cards CDs and DVDs. Those planning to send a care package to a U.S. military service member serving abroad can take advantage of a new flat-rate box from the U.S. Postal Service. It is 50 percent larger and will be delivered for $10.95 to an APO/FPO address $2 less than for domestic destinations. The America Supports You branded box will be available online, at select Post Offices near military bases, or by calling 800-610-8734.
