Press Release: Clarkstown Holds Town-Wide Comprehensive Plan Meeting May 15th
CLARKSTOWN
HOLDS TOWN-WIDE
COMPREHENSIVE
PLAN MEETING MAY 15TH
Supervisor
Alex Gromack, the Town Board and the Special Board for the Comprehensive Plan
invite all Clarkstown residents to a town-wide
comprehensive plan workshop on Thursday,
May 15th, 7pm – 9:30pm, at Town Hall. The meeting will take place in the
auditorium.
The
Town's first Comprehensive Plan which dealt with land use issues was developed
in 1966 and was updated in 1999. This
new Comprehensive Plan, expected to be complete in 2009, differs from the
earlier plans because it is being modeled after an Environmental Impact
Statement and its unprecedented outreach to residents. The town has retained experts in economic
development, biodiversity and public outreach to guide them through this
process.
Over
400 residents have attended town and hamlet/area workshops since the kick off
held last October. The Special Board
collected and recorded hundreds of comments and ideas from residents at those
meetings.
Supervisor
Gromack said, “At the May 15th meeting, we want to be sure that we
collected all of the public’s comments and we want to be sure that we heard our
residents’ ideas completely. This will
be a great opportunity for residents to see the next step in the comprehensive
planning process.”
