Supervisor Gromack is proud to
announce that the Lake Nanuet Pool Complex has received the New York State
Recreation and Parks Society (NYSRPS) Outstanding Facility Award.
Each year the NYSRPS presents a
series of awards that have become a coveted honor for the people and
organizations singled out for their contributions to parks and recreation.These awards are presented at the NYSRPS
Annual Awards Luncheon, held each year during the Annual Conference and
Business Expo.
The Outstanding Facility Award
goes to a governmental agency or organization that has shown outstanding and
unique achievement in parks and recreation facility design and
development.
Supervisor Gromack said, "We
are so honored that LakeNanuet has been
recognized by a State agency for its design and development.I applaud the hard work and dedication of the
Parks and Recreation Commission to see this project through.We are proud to have such a beautiful, new
pool facility for Clarkstown residents to enjoy."
LakeNanuet
has zero depth entry to 6.6 feet at its deepest point.The total surface area of the pool is 49,700
square feet and the total volume 1,600,000 gallons.The following improvements were added at the
pool during a major renovation that took place during the 2005-2006 off season:
Raising
the pool elevation three feet to eliminate flooding problems
New
filter building
New
refreshment building
Water
features in the pool
Concrete
decking around the pool
Landscaping
New
ticket booth
Addition
added to lifeguard building
New
toddler frog slide
Since it’s re-opening in July
2006 attendance at LakeNanuet increased from
10,000 in the 2005 season to about 30,000 for the 2006 season.Supervisor Gromack said, "It's great to
know that the renovation of LakeNanuet was not only
successful from a construction point of view but from the public usage point of
view. The fact that more and more families are using the Lake
means that the Town is continuing its commitment to provide quality
recreational activities for our residents.”
Noting that the Town recently
reduced its fees for all three Town Pools, Gromack added, “We
will continue to work to identify and meet the recreational needs of our
residents in a way that is both meaningful and affordable. Our goal is to
continue to respond to the changing recreational needs of all Clarkstown
residents.”
