The Clarkstown Highway Department has a set schedule for yard waste pickup and fall leaf collection. A general overview is provided below, but specific dates and requirements are sent to Clarkstown residents twice a year. If you have not received a mailer, please let us know.
Fall Leaf Collection (PDF)
Typically, the Highway Department begins a daily schedule of loose-leaf collection the last week of October. This daily effort continues, making one final pass through beginning the first week in December. Beyond that date, trucks and equipment are converted from leaf collection boxes and leaf vacuums to snow-ready plows and salting equipment. Because of the changeover, only bagged leaves will be picked up after that first week in December.
Be prepared for loose-leaf collection. Pile leave on the lawn by the curb, not in the street, over a catch basin, by a fire hydrant, or at a school bus stop. Cover loose leaves with a tarp or place in a mesh container to keep in place.
Yard Waste Pickup Program
Brush, twigs, branches, and bagged leaves are scheduled for picked up four times during the warmer months – April through September – allowing the majority of the Highway crews to work on road and drainage repairs. Again, a schedule of pick up dates is mailed to residents. If you did not receive a mailer, please call.
Clarkstown Compost Facility – managed by the Town Department of Environmental Control
All year round, residents of Clarkstown may take their yard waste to the Compost/Solid Waste Site in West Nyack (proof of residency is required) 358-0759. Brush may be dropped off at the Compost site entrance on Route 59, behind Dunkin Donuts. Leaves and grass may be dropped of at the Solid Waste site entrance on Route 303.
Roadway and easement maintenance information, provided by the Clarkstown Highway Department, can be found by clicking the mouse over the pothole diagram if you return to the Homeowners’ Main Page of this website.
